Our Purpose - Making The World Safer
Our vision is to be the recognised international standard used by all organisations to fulfil legal obligations when making decisions to disclose data to law enforcement.
Our way of working is to place ethics at the forefront of our decision making.
What we do
We help organisations navigate complex legal environments when they receive legal demands from law enforcement to access or disclose data.
iTrust 6A™ offers a standardised, simplified, and secure solution for organisations of any size, in any jurisdiction to fulfil legal obligations.
A Principled Framework - Built for today and ready for the future
In a constantly evolving regulatory environment, organisations face many challenges, including the balancing of rights regarding access to data by law enforcement. This is driving, for law enforcement, regular pushbacks and for organisations, increased legal costs due to privacy issues, and increased fines for non-compliance.
Recognising the challenges involved in data disclosure to law enforcement, our founders created a six-principled framework that standardises and streamlines decision-making. This approach empowers organisations to navigate these challenges with confidence and clarity.
The people behind the purpose
The iTrust 6A™ framework was created by our founders, Maureen King and Peter Kirwan based on over 40 years combined experience in Telecommunications and Law Enforcement handling requests for access to and disclosure of data.
They were entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring compliance with several laws that demanded careful judgment on necessity and proportionality and balancing competing rights.
As expert witnesses in criminal trials, Maureen and Peter faced regular forensic scrutiny regarding their decision-making processes, policies, and record-keeping practices. Additionally, they faced judicial oversight and audits conducted by the Data Protection Commission.
"We have seen first hand how crucial it is for law enforcement to have timely and lawful access to data.”
Every data disclosure has a human story behind it, whether it involves missing persons, murder victims, child exploitation, or human trafficking.
Timely and lawful access to data is essential for preventing, detecting, and investigating criminal offences and ensuring that justice is served and victims' rights are upheld.
With the growing reliance on electronic data for crime investigations, organisations are grappling with the increased focus on accountability and necessity to demonstrate decision-making rationale when responding to legal demands for access to and disclosure of data.
Our Team and Vision
Today, Maureen and Peter work alongside an experienced team of professionals in international law, privacy, and compliance led by a socially conscious board.
Maureen regularly contributes to high-level discussions within the EU Commission, the Irish Government, and other international forums regarding lawful access to data and Maureen and Peter are accredited assessors of human rights principles with GNI (the Global Network Initiative).
An International Standard
We aim to make iTrust 6A™ the international standard that empowers organisations to fulfil their legal and ethical obligations when disclosing data to law enforcement.
